O Give Thanks to the Lord!!!

We have started celebrating Thanksgiving already! Nate and Andrea came up for a long weekend. I didn't get photos of the Feig football game, but Farkle was next. David kept score on an Excel spread sheet. That counts as school, right?

Sarah made snacks galore!

Andrea made some delicious pie crusts.

Joel entertained us with his beautiful improvisations.

The ladies worked on sewing and weaving projects.

The guys took care of some outdoor needs. They also put a roof on the addition to our tiny cabin. For pics, see Nate's fb.

David had a CAPs event to attend on Saturday morning.

There was time for just relaxing.

Although Tim's birthday is November 17, we decided to celebrate it while Nate and Andrea were here.

He liked getting a coffee maker for his study room. Joel, who now lives next door, is happy too. Should be handy for those long study nights.

Tim blew out all his candles and half of the chocolate chips off the frosting on his cake.

Sure was pleasant sitting around together.

Sarah won the game of Imaginiff.  We had some great laughs, as we discovered how well we knew each other.

Before N and A headed back home, Barry took a photo of our weaving progress. The race continues.........

Miss you Zack and Ethan-as you are on the other side of the world but thankful you are just where the Lord has you for His service. Thanking the Lord for each of you!!!!

We have SO much for which to be thankful! "O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever!"Psalm 30:12

A Roofing Party!

Friday morning, bright and early, strong able men joined forces to do a job-reroof Pastor Paul's house. The first order of business was to tear off the old shingles. Then came "ice and water".

They made the job look easy and fun! Then Saturday, the new shingles started flying on with 4 power nailers going top speed! They really made it look fun!

Sarah helped with cooking the meals and stayed to help with ground crew responsibilties.

Pastor Paul and Violet were VERY thankful for each person who helped. The roof is beautiful and weather tight!

Thank you Ethan, Bobby, Trevor, Bruce, Steven, Tim, David, Bob, Ben, and Tony!!!!! Great job!!!!

Fun at the Fair!

We saw some interesting sites, including some "clean" cars. We thought maybe David might like to get a junker and see if he could make one run on grease or solar someday.

I attended a workshop on storing root vegetables and learned that a cooler works well for storing potatoes, especially if you put an apple in it to help prevent the potatoes from sprouting.  Coolers work well for many vegetables if you are careful to watch the temperature. I am hoping for a good crop from my garden so I can use my coolers this winter.

Of the many booths we perused, the Solar Oven Society was my favorite. The company has a Christian missions mindset as well as providing a product that is useful to any who want to reduce energy usage. Barry bought me one and I used it for the first time today.

I baked Banana Mango Bread in it today for supper. It took 2 hours to bake and it was delicious. As you can see, one of the breads got eaten before the photo shoot.

Thank You Lord for our daily bread and beautiful sunshine that can be used to cook and bake.
